LEEDS, AL- Like yesterday, the Verizon IndyCar Series test at the Barber Motorsports Park was delayed due to mother nature. The morning session was again basically a wash due to some light rain falling on the 2.3-mile road course and cooler temperatures.

The series recognized that and like yesterday again, they allowed the 22-cars to have more track time in session No. 2.

When it was all said and done, Will Power was the fastest for the second straight day.

He set a time of 1:07.0608-seconds in the No. 12 Verizon Wireless Chevrolet. The lap was quicker than yesterday’s time as everyone improved from yesterday’s speeds.

Power, is showing he’s going to be the man to beat in 2014 as he ended 2013 as strong as anyone can and is starting ’14 on top.

Watch out.

Second quick in today’s session was Dale Coyne Racing’s Justin Wilson. He set a time of 1:07.0646-seconds in the No. 19 Honda. He too was hot at the end of last year as he had six top eight finishes in the final seven races in 2013.

Last year’s series champ Scott Dixon was third quickest in his No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Honda while Takuma Sato and Ryan Briscoe rounded out the top five speeds.

The next time we will see the series on the track will be for the first practice session of the season on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida next Friday.

The season is getting closer and closer as it’s almost time for the season to start.
