INDIANAPOLIS – Lance Stephenson is joining LeBron James in Los Angeles. Glenn Robinson III is gone, opting to remain in the division with Detroit. But Tyreke Evans appears to be on his way in to Indiana.
Reports are saying that the free agent guard is finalizing a one-year, $12 million deal with the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday. Evans put up good numbers with the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2017-18 season – averaging 19.4 points, 5.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds a game.
Evans missed 30 games due to injury last season on a bad Grizzlies squad, but most definitely had a bounce back year after struggling in New Orleans and Sacramento in 2016-17.
The 28-year-old has dealt with injuries in recent years, averaging only 39 games played in his last three seasons, but should be able to make an impact with this Pacers team when he gets on the floor. He was 2010 NBA Rookie of the Year and has career averages of 16.5 points, 5.1 assists and 4.8 rebounds.
With Darren Collison officially returning to the Blue and Gold to keep their usual starting five from last year’s campaign intact, Evans should play a sixth man role similar to how Stephenson did for Indy.
