INDIANAPOLIS – Four words to start a tweet – that’s how Indianapolis Indians right fielder and the Pittsburgh Pirates‘ top prospect Gregory Polanco announced that he’d be in the Majors.

Polanco said, “The wait is over…” Everyone else was sighing, “Finally.”

Since Polanco joined the Tribe for the 2014 season, he’s been extraordinary. In 62 games, he’s batted .347 with 17 doubles, five triples, seven home runs and 49 RBIs.

Minor League Baseball reported that the Indians’ manager Dean Treanor told Polanco not in his office, but in the locker room in front of the entire coaching staff and all his teammates.

Treanor said in the article, “Usually I’d call a player in [to the office], but with this kid, I thought that the whole team would want to be a part of it. Everybody started cheering and that just shows how well liked he is with his teammates and how much they care about him. I got the phone call after the game, so I hurried to the clubhouse. I had been thinking about how I was going to do it and I just felt like the team would want to hear it at the same time. I don’t think he knew what to say. He was choke up and everybody was hugging him.”

Some of his teammates even took to Twitter to share their excitement:

The reason for Polanco’s call up was because the Pirates placed Neil Walker on the 15-day disabled list because he had an appendectomy on Monday night.
