Kellen Dunham, Roosevelt Jones Named NABC All-District V

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Juniors Kellen Dunham and Roosevelt Jones, who helped lead the Butler Bulldogs to a 23-11 campaign and a berth in the 2015 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, were named to the ten-player NABC Division I All-District V Team, released by the National Association of Basketball Coaches on Friday (March 27). The 25 All-District teams announced were selected by member coaches of the NABC.

The two Butler players, chosen to the second team on the All-District V squad, join Sir’Dominic Pointer of St. John’s, Sterling Gibbs of Seton Hall and Ryan Arcidiacono of Villanova. The first team was made up of Darrun Hilliard of Villanova, Kris Dunn and LaDontae Henton of Providence, D’Angelo Harrison of St. John’s and D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera of Georgetown.

Dunham led the Bulldogs and ranked third in the BIG EAST Conference in scoring (16.6) this past season. He was named first team All-BIG EAST and was chosen to the USBWA All-District V Team. Jones led the Bulldogs in assists (3.7) and finished second on the squad in both scoring (12.7) and rebounding (5.2). He was a second team All-BIG EAST pick.

Both Butler players joined the school’s 1,000-Point Club in career scoring during the past season. Dunham will head into next season in 14th place on Butler’s all-time scoring list with 1,411 career points, while Jones will start the season in 34th place with 1,077 career tallies.

Butler, picked to finish in a tie for seventh place in the BIG EAST in a preseason poll of league coaches, tied the 11th-highest single season win total in school history and earned a “Top 25” national ranking and a tie for second place in the final BIG EAST regular season standings. The Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship for the seventh time in the past nine years and posted a second round victory over Texas. It was Butler’s 18th victory in its past eight trips to the NCAA Tournament.
