INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Butler Bulldogs were well represented by senior G Kellen Dunham and senior G/F Roosevelt Jones at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, which concluded on Saturday, April 16. The four-day, 12-game tournament was held in Virginia in front of representatives from each of the NBA‘s 30 teams.
Jones averaged 7.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists for his K&D Rounds team, posting a 6.0 assist to turnover ratio in the team’s three games. The 6.0 assist to turnover ratio was good for a two-way tie for third in the tournament. Jones scored 11 points and had five rebounds, including a game-winning putback in the team’s 91-90 win in the opening round of the event on Thursday, April 14. Jones had eight points and four rebounds in the team’s win in the Third Place Game on Saturday, April 16.
Dunham averaged 10.7 points in three games for the Portsmouth Partnership team. He shot 63% from the field, which was the third-best mark among the 64 participating players. He went 5-of-8 from three-point range, which was also third in the tournament. He added 2.7 rebounds per game. Dunham scored 17 points in 23 minutes of action in the Consolation Championship Game on Saturday, April 16, in which his team lost by one.
Both players are set to graduate from Butler in the coming weeks and will continue workouts as they prepare for professional basketball careers.
