INDIANAPOLIS, Ind: The Indy Eleven had a player this week that was nominated as Player of the Week for the North American Soccer League, that player was none other than Forward Justin Braun.
Justin Braun was a major component to the success of the Eleven this past weekend. Of the 3 goals made against Puerto Rico FC on Saturday, he played a role in each one of them.
The first goal of last weeks match, which was scored by Braun, was his first one on the season. It came from the assist of teammate Nemanja Vukovic when he was awarded a free kick from the corner. Nokovic put the right placement on the ball giving Braun the opportunity to knock in a nice header past Puerto Rico’s goalkeeper, Trevor Spangenburg.
Braun’s role in the second goal of the match for the Eleven came as an assist. Moving down the field Justin Braun was able to sneak a nice pass past the defenders of PRFC to fellow teammate, Midfielder Ben Speas, who had gotten behind the line of defenders to receive the pass and have a nice open shot on the goal, which was successful.
The third and final goal of the game for Indy came at the 75th minute mark and was again made by Braun. This time the assist came from teammate and Midfielder Craig Henderson.
The Eleven are going to try and keep momentum with them to come out with a victory this weekend as they face off again against Puerto Rico FC, but this time being on the road. With these two teams playing back to back after the intense matchup they had last Saturday, it’s sure to be a good one.
