Josh Willis Named PFL Defensive Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Following a 38-7 win for the Butler Bulldogs over the Davidson Wildcats, junior DE Josh Willis has been named the Pioneer Football League’s “Defensive Player of the Week” with 2.5 sacks. The conference office made the announcement Oct. 18.

In Butler’s win at the Butler Bowl, Willis was disruptive in the backfield, with two solo sacks and sharing another. The Bowie, Md., product had four total tackles Saturday in addition to a quarterback hurry.

The Bulldogs’ defense limited Davidson to 11 first downs and only 37 rushing yards, while allowing only one score.

For the season, Willis has a team-high 5.5 sacks through six games.

Butler, 4-2 overall and 2-1 in PFL play, travels to Dayton Saturday for a 6 p.m. game.
