INDIANAPOLIS: The Indy Fuel had a three game weekend and it turned out positive in some ways. With the Fort Wayne Komets visiting and then the Allen Americans the Fuel were going to have their hands full. .
The Fuel won their game Friday against the Komets 6-5 in a late comeback from the Komets. The Fuel had a 6-2 lead going into the third period and then the Komets found their grove scoring three goals in the third.
Josh Shalla had some good games this weekend getting on the score card in two games with goals and assists against the Komets. Micheal Neal also had a great couple of games this weekend for the Fuel tallying three goals and one assist over the weekend.
The Fuel in a total had 93 shots on goal and 11 goals the Fuel gave up 125 shots on goal and 13 goals. The only game that it really just fell apart was the game against the Allen Americans giving up 44 shots on goal and five goals. The Fuel also gave up two early power play goals against the Americans.
When the Fuel took on the Komets Saturday they had the lead late in the third till the Komets scored at the 19:25 mark to tie it up. The game then went into overtime and nobody could score the defense and the goalies were ready and wanting the win
The game then went into a shoot out with Trevor Cheek and Jamie Schaafsma scoring for the Komets and Alex Wideman only scoring for the Fuel. It was defiantly a good game for the Fuel but the ending did not quit come out the way they wanted.
The Fuel played really good teams this weekend and to come out with at least one win against some of the best teams in the league is a very good improvement for the Fuel at this point.
The Fuel now have the power to play spoiler, which means they can spoil another teams chances on getting into the playoffs. I think the Fuel just need to finish this season strong and come back hungry for playoff run, and a Kelley Cup!
