The Indy Fuel end the weekend on a positive note

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel finally got the weekend it needed splitting with the Kalamazoo Wings and getting the win over the Quad City Mallards. The Fuel played really well this weekend getting shots on goal and playing good defense

The Indy Fuel let up 45 shots on goal against the Wings Friday night but only let up five goals and had Micheal Neal on their side. Micheal Neal scored a hat trick to life the Fuel over the Wings Friday.

Even though the Fuel gave up two power play goals against the Wings Friday they redeemed themselves and got the win. The Fuel played tough defense against a good Wings team on the road and the much-needed win.

On the other hand when the Wings visited the Fuel they were looking for revenge for getting beat on home ice. The Wings’ Lane Scheidl made his presence known scoring one in the first and one in the third short-handed to take the lead back.

The Fuel also gave up 45 shots on goal this game along with five goals, but 20 of those shots came in the first and miraculously the Wings did not score any goals. The Fuel had 33 shots on goal and only one goal. The Wings defense was obviously a lot better than the Fuels Saturday night.

The Fuel then looked to bounce back in front of a loyal fan base and get a win against the Quad City Mallards. The Fuel owned the Mallards in the first period scoring six goals on 14 shots, which is pretty decent.

Kenny Ryan was the player to watch after scoring two goals in the first period. Quad City then started their scoring in the second period with a short-handed goal by Sam Warming who also had two goal going into the third period.

Warming though was the first one to the hat trick and brought the Mallards within two goals in the third. Kenny Ryan then scored his hat trick goal to give the Fuel a two goal lead before Justin Kovacs scored to bring the Mallards within one.

The Fuel hold on to win this nail biter on home ice 8-7 the new guy that I am sure we will hear a lot of, Woody Hudson, got on the score sheet with an assist in the first period on Ryan’s goal. The Fuel looked rested and ready to play this weekend.

I am really glad they finally got a positive weekend! They really needed it to jack up the confidence and get ready for the road trip coming up! Now instead of two wins this weekend let’s get a sweep!
