INDIANAPOLIS, Ind: Are you ready Eleven fans? Soccer comes back to the city of Indianapolis this Saturday as the Indy Eleven are set to take on Puerto Rico FC with a 3 p.m. kickoff time at Michael A. Carroll Stadium located on the campus of IUPUI.
The last time the “Boys in Blue” competed against Puerto Rico was back on October 22nd during the Fall portion of the 2016 Regular Season. The matchup was a good one for the Eleven with them taking the win with a final score of 3-0.
Puerto Rico had their first game last Saturday when they faced off against the New York Cosmos in Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium located in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Throughout the whole 90 minutes there were a total of 23 touches for Puerto Rico but they were unsuccessful in scoring a goal, as well as the Cosmos. The final score of 0-0 shows it was a hard fought match with solid defense on both ends.
The same scenario played out for the Indy Eleven last Saturday as well. The Eleven traveled out West taking on the San Francisco Deltas but sadly couldn’t manage to take the lead and get the win. The game went into extra minutes, 7 to be exact but both teams, with solid defense, held eachother to a tie of 1-1. On the good side of the draw, the Eleven still earned a point on the season for their division race in the North American Soccer League.
Everyone can catch Saturday’s game on local telivision station WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV 23 (WNDY) with a start time of 3 p.m. It’s going to be an exciting home opener with the Eleven looking to bounce back with a win.
