Indy Eleven Adds Midfielder Adrian Ables to the Roster

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind: The Indy Eleven filled a roster spot this week when they picked up and signed Midfielder Adrian Ables to the team.

Ables comes from DePauw University, an Indiana school located in Greencastle. Through his 4 years of attending there he racked up a total of 18 goals and 17 assists in a total of 75 games he participated in.

Adrian Ables is not a native of Indiana, but in fact Midwest City, Oklahoma is his hometown. While also beginning his professional soccer career in Oklahoma, playing for Rayo OKC who is a club no longer in the North American Soccer League and actually has ceased all operations permanently.

Head Coach Tim Hankinson gave his thoughts on the new signee saying, “We started the season with a much smaller squad than is normal due to injuries, so adding an additional player for the day-to-day will be a big benefit. Adrian brings a great deal of pace and his ability to breakaway is a real plus. He gives us an option when we don’t have as many bodies available and fits the mold for what we were looking for.”

Ables also gave his feelings on joining the Indy Eleven saying, “Its fantastic. I have trained and played with the team before and so now to be on the roster and have a chance to step on the field is awesome. It’s a blessing to wear that emblem on my chest.”

Adrian also just accepted an offer and is going to be joining his former college to be part of the coaching staff along side head coach Brad Hauter.

“Taking on the role with DePauw and Coach Hauter being there is special for me. I grew up there and wanted to impact the school and give back what they gave to me,” said Ables. “That, plus the opportunity to give back to the Indiana community, aligns with my goals as a player. I want to impact the team and be successful, but I also want to impact the community and help others. It’s how I got to where I am today.”

Adding Ables to the roster is great timing as the “Boys in Blue” are set to take on the San Francisco Deltas this Saturday here in Indianapolis at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. ET as the Eleven will be looking to score their first win on the season.
