INDIANAPOLIS – The 2015 International League All-Star roster was revealed on Thursday and the league-leading Indianapolis Indians will have three representatives in the big game.
Elias Diaz, Alen Hanson and Blake Wood were named to the IL team, who will take on the Pacific League’s best players in the Triple-A All-Star Game at Werner Park in Omaha, Ne. on July 15.
Diaz will start at catcher for the International League in the game and has been one of the more consistent backstops in the league this year. He has a batting average of .268 with three home runs and 25 RBIs in 60 games with the Tribe.
In addition to starting in the Triple-A All-Star Game, Diaz will play on the World Team in the All-Star Futures Game as a part of the buildup to the MLB All-Star Game. The Futures Game features some of baseball’s best prospects and takes place on July 12 at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati.
Hanson has put up solid numbers in 2015 despite missing two weeks due to injury in June. He has recorded a batting average of .292 with five homers, 33 RBIs and 19 stolen bases in 63 games. Hanson ranks seventh in the IL with his 19 stolen bases and is tied for first for triples with eight.
Wood has been the Indians’ primary closer in 2015 and has been successful in locking games up for Indianapolis. He leads the league with 20 saves and has a record of 0-2 with a 3.31 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 32 appearances.
Hanson and Wood were both named to the International League’s roster as reserves.
