INDIANAPOLIS– If you’re heading out to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday, you’re in for a treat. You will see a final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice session, both the Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series’ new qualifying formats then the Nationwide Series race later on in the afternoon.
One thing to watch for in the Lilly Diabetes 250 (4:30 PM ET/ESPN/IMS Radio Network) is the Nationwide Insurance Dash 4 Cash.
For those that don’t know what this is, Nationwide Insurance made an extra incentive for Nationwide only drivers in four select races this year. It started at Daytona earlier this month then carried over to Chicagoland last Saturday night. Indy, is the third leg of the four races as Iowa next weekend will complete the program.
Only four drivers are eligible for this incentive each week. The top three Nationwide only drivers from the race before then the driver that won among the previous four participants are eligible.
As an example, Regan Smith, Chris Buescher, Elliott Sadler and Brian Scott were in the running for the Nationwide Dash 4 Cash promotion last weekend. Scott, was the top finisher of the four as he automatically advanced to try it again this weekend at Indy.
By virtue of their first, second and fifth place finishes respectively last week in Chicago, Chase Elliott, Trevor Bayne and Ty Dillon will join Scott at Indy for a shot a $100,000 bonus on Saturday afternoon. The top finisher of those four get that $100k bonus at the end of the race.
Each week, they award the top finisher of this program $100k. It’s made racing even better as not only is there obviously a competition for the win but also an inside race between four drivers for $100,000.
This is something to keep an eye out on this weekend.
