INDIANAPOLIS – Trade rumors are floating all over the Indianapolis Colts Complex off of 56th Street these days. So let’s add another player to that growing list, if you are playing along at home.
Let’s add veteran running back Frank Gore.
Stephen Holder of the Indy Star is reported yesterday that “at least two teams have shown interest” in the 34 year-old back.
Colts GM Chris Ballard had this to say about the upcoming trade deadline:
“Look, every year there’s rumors, and that’s what it ends up being most of the time, is just pure rumors. You know, we’re not going to say ‘No’ to about anything, and we’ll listen, but that doesn’t mean we’ll make a move. We’ll see here in the next couple of days, you know — tomorrow’s the deadline at 4 p.m.; we’ll see how it plays out for us. But somebody would really have to do something to pry one of our players away right now.”
Ballard’s comments cement (in my opinion) that the asking price the Colts are wanting for receiver T.Y. Hilton is a bit steep.
I believe though that Ballard and Company should take the same approach for Gore, who is the team’s leading rusher with 404 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.
Either way, Ballard and the Colts will have some tough decisions to make before today’s trade deadline at 4:00 pm Eastern time.
