Butler Bulldogs Release 2018 Football Schedule

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Butler Bulldogs, coming off a 6-5 2017 campaign, released their 2018 football schedule. The season is highlighted by five home games at the Sellick Bowl, including four Pioneer Football League contests.

“The Bulldogs are looking forward to another challenging schedule this season,” said Butler Head Football Coach Jeff Voris. “We are especially excited for our home schedule which includes Princeton and four great PFL contests. Can’t wait to see everyone back in the Sellick Bowl this fall.”

The Bulldogs open their season on the road, traveling to face the Youngstown State Penguins on Sept. 1 and the Taylor Trojans on Sept. 8. Butler and Youngstown State last played in 2014, while the Bulldogs and Taylor have played annually since 2014.

Conference play begins Sep. 29 for the Bulldogs against the Morehead State Eagles. That is the first of four home PFL games in Indianapolis. The Bulldogs will host the 2017 PFL champion San Diego Toreros on Oct. 20. The following Saturday, the Dayton Flyers make the short trip to Indianapolis to face the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will play their final game at the Sellick Bowl on Nov. 10 against the Stetson Hatters.

Butler will travel to face the Drake Bulldogs and Valparaiso Crusaders on Oct. 6 and 13, respectively. Other road trips include conference foe Jacksonville Dolphins on Nov. 3, and Davidson Wildcats on Nov. 17 to wrap up their season.

Butler returns a number of key contributors for the 2018 season. Junior WR Pace Temple, a unanimous First-Team All-PFL selection, registered 65 catches for 1,075 yards as a junior, becoming just the fourth Bulldog in program history to go over 1,000 yards in a season.

Sophomore K Drew Bevelhimer, another All-PFL First-Team selection, made 16 of his 21 field goal attempts this season.

Coach Voris and the Bulldogs are coming off 6-5 campaign, the fourth winning season in the last six years.
