Butler Bulldogs Release 2018-2019 Non-Conference Schedule

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Butler Bulldogs announced their 2018-19 non-conference schedule on Wednesday, July 25th. The schedule is highlighted by the Battle 4 Atlantis event, match-ups with SEC opponents Florida and Ole Miss, a neutral-site contest against Indiana in the 2018 Crossroads Classic, and a road game at Saint Louis.

In all, seven non-conference contests join all nine BIG EAST Conference opponents (in addition to two exhibitions) on the Hinkle Fieldhouse portion of the 2018-19 schedule.

“In my opinion, the BIG EAST is the best conference in the country. Every season, we need to put together a non-conference schedule that will challenge us and prepare us for BIG EAST play, and this schedule certainly will do that,” said Butler Head Coach LaVall Jordan, who enters his second season under the helm.

Fans will get their first look at the 2018-19 Bulldogs with a pair of exhibitions at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Butler will host Tiffin on Sunday, Oct. 28 followed by a match-up with Southern Indiana on Saturday, Nov. 3.

The Bulldogs will open the regular season Saturday, Nov. 10, welcoming Miami (Ohio) to Hinkle Fieldhouse. That is Family Weekend on the Butler campus.

Additional opponents at Hinkle Fieldhouse that have not been previously announced include Detroit (Mon., Nov. 12), Brown (Wed., Dec. 5), Northern Illinois (Sat., Dec. 8), Presbyterian (Tues., Dec. 18), and UC-Irvine (Fri., Dec. 21).

On Friday, Nov. 16, Ole Miss and Butler will play at Hinkle Fieldhouse in the front end of a two-year home-and-home agreement. In one of two traditional road contests during the non-conference, Butler travels to Saint Louis on Saturday, Dec. 1 to complete a home-and-home series with the Billikens. The Bulldogs will close the non-conference schedule Saturday, Dec. 29 at Florida. The Gators will travel to Hinkle Fieldhouse during the 2019-20 season.

In neutral-site contests, the Bulldogs travel to Paradise Island, Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis. Butler will play three games (Nov. 21-23). Dayton is Butler’s first round opponent and the field also includes Virginia, Florida, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Stanford, and Middle Tennessee State. Butler and Indiana will meet Saturday, Dec. 15 at the annual Crossroads Classic at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Game times and television assignments will be announced in conjunction with the BIG EAST schedule release in early September.

The Bulldogs recently earned their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. Butler is one of only eight programs nationally to win at least one NCAA Tournament game in each of the last four seasons.

The Bulldogs concluded the 2017-18 season with a 21-14 record under first-year Butler coach LaVall Jordan. Butler returns a talented group, headlined by junior G Kamar Baldwin and his 15.7 points per game average as a sophomore. Also returning is starting redshirt junior G/F Sean McDermott and starting sophomore G Aaron Thompson, along with senior C Nate Fowler and redshirt senior G Paul Jorgensen.
