Butler Bulldogs Land Nine on the 2016 Academic All-Pioneer Football League Teams

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Butler Bulldogs landed nine student-athletes on the 2016 Academic All-Pioneer Football League Teams for their achievements both on the field and in the classroom. Of those nine Bulldogs selected, three earned first team honors while six were named to the second team.

Pioneer Football League athletic directors established the Academic All-PFL squads in 1993 as a way to recognize the league’s outstanding student-athletes. To be eligible for Academic All-PFL consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and reached their second season both athletically and academically at his current institution.

Redshirt junior TE Cord Collier was selected to the Academic All-PFL First Team. The tight end appeared in all 11 games, hauling in 19 catches for 204 yards while also helping to pave the way for Butler’s rushing attack. Collier was third on the team in touchdown receptions with three and accounted for the longest reception of the season (60 yards). This is Collier’s first appearance on an Academic All-PFL Team.

Redshirt senior WR Danny Cotter also earned Academic All-PFL First Team honors. The wide receiver was second on the team in receptions (37), yards (541) and touchdowns (4). Cotter was selected to the Academic All-PFL Second Team in 2015.
