MUNCIE, Ind: The Ball State Cardinals (15-10, 6-6 MAC) are going to look to bounce back with a win in tonight’s Valentines Day game against Northern Illinois (14-11, 6-6 MAC). The Cardinals have lost their last three including back to back games by only 2 points, which can be some of the most discouraging and hardest to come back from. Ball State is really going to have to come out and play hard the full forty minutes if they want this win.
The Huskies are not going to be an opponent to second guess. They currently have the number one scoring defense in the Mid-American Conference only allowing an average of 68.5 points per game. The Cardinals last meeting in March of last year with Norther Illinois didn’t go in their favor, with them losing 80-69. The Huskies also hold a record of 42-11 since February 12, 2014 while playing at home in the Convocation Center. A win for Ball State would be huge and a great catapult for them to regain momentum heading into the final 5 games of the season.
The Cardinals are definitely going to need their shooters to be hot if they’re gonna pull out a win in this game. With Tayler Person averaging 15.4 points per game, and Franko House averaging 13.2 points, they are going to need to bring that tonight. Another key point for Ball State to keep in mind is ball movement. Going up against the number one scoring defense in the conference, points won’t be easily earned, so the Cardinals will need that separation to really take hold and come out of this game on top. Don’t expect a large margin of a win, the way these two teams play, a close game is expected. Catch all the action tonight on ESPN3 with a start time of 9:00PM ET, it’s sure to be a good one.
