MUNCIE, Ind: The final game of the regular season was a success for Ball State with them winning over the Northern Illinois Huskies with a final score of 87-82.
This win gave the Cardinals the top spot in the Western Division of the Mid-American Conference heading into the tournament giving them an automatic ticket into the quarter finals of the MAC tournament.
It was a relatively close match up between the Cardinals and Huskies. Northern Illinois came out with the lead, but halfway thru the first half Ball State hit back to back three pointers to take control. The first half ended with a score of 32-37. The Cardinals then came out firing from halftime starting out with a 9-3 run taking their lead to 45-35.
It was a good all around performance from the whole team. Senior forward Franko House was the leading scorer for the Cardinals making 22 points. Fellow teammate, Sophomore Guard Tayler Persons also had a nice outing getting 14 points along with 8 assists. Two other players for Ball Stat, Trey Moses and Ryan Webber had double-digit scoring games as well.
Ball State needs to stay focused and ready come Thursday when they begin the tournament. Their opponent will be determined after the first round is finished. The Cardinals are listed as the 4th seed behind #1 Akron, No. 2 Ohio and No. 3 Buffalo. All teams seeded higher than BSU belong to the Eastern Division of the Mid-American Conference.
The MAC tournament will take place in Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH. Games will be broadcasted on ESPN3 and CBS Sports.
